About
The city and country of the work is Santiago, Chile. The population of Santiago is six million, and the population of Chile is 15 million. The primary language is Spanish, and the area religious beliefs are Catholic and Trinitarian, with some Mormon and Jehovah’s Witness.
The economic and living conditions in Chile are such that 20% of the people in the country live without jobs. Many people have to work all day long just to survive.
Our central church has 700 people and many other works throughout the country. Since the majority of buildings are privately owned, freedom to worship the Lord indoors or out is not a dilemma. The work now reaches Southern Argentina, a country of 38 million.
A new goal is to purchase an A.M. radio station in Chile, as it is the largest tool in reaching the people of this country. This would be the first Apostolic radio station in South America.
Since joining the A.L.J.C. in 1979, the Fuentes family has been laboring in the country of Chile. Brother Fuentes was attending Indiana State University in Evansville. While serving as assistant pastor at a church in Sulphur, Indiana, the Lord began to deal with his heart to return to his home country. After counseling with Reverend Don Johnson and Reverend Charles Smith, he returned to his homeland to reach lost souls. Now a member of the organization for some 23 years, Brother Fuentes is the senior missionary representing the A.L.J.C.
Other family members involved in the work are: Pastor Harold I. Fuentes, Evangelist Joshua Fuentes, Sis. Marietta Fuentes and Sis. Maria Bravo.
